About
DIARRA FROM DETROIT follows a divorcing schoolteacher who refuses to believe she's been ghosted by her rebound Tinder date. Her search for the missing man pulls her into a decades-old mystery involving the Detroit underworld. Episode Description
“Chasing Ghosts” - Months after her husband asked for an open marriage, DIARRA BRICKLAND is in her mother’s home, reeling from the prospect of divorce. Diarra has two tense reunions with childhood friends, DANGER – a thug with a therapist and MONI – her former high school bestie. She attempts to move on by going on a Tinder date with a handsome man named CHRIS. Diarra and Chris’ chemistry leads to a steamy night of sex and plans for a second date, but Chris leaves Diarra on read. Despite what her work wife, MR. TEA and her favorite student, WANDREEKA think Diarra insists that something must have happened to him instead of accepting that he ghosted her. Diarra returns to Chris’ apartment only to find Chris gone and a naked RUSSIAN in his closet. But when she sees a missing poster in the post office that resembles Chris, Diarra knows her instincts were right and begins her search for him.

“The Russian” - DIARRA becomes fascinated with THE RUSSIAN, believing that finding him is the key to finding CHRIS, aka Deonte Brooks, the missing person from 1995. She brings her theory to the police who laugh her out of the precinct. Meanwhile, her husband SWA and her best friend (Swa’s cousin), AJA bring Diarra back to the reality of her divorce. Swa tells Diarra to get a lawyer and Aja throws Diarra divorce a party. Diarra gets a lead about the Russian and it takes her and MR. TEA to an underground club featuring BDSM rooms. Diarra meets the Russian and confirms that Chris is in fact the missing person from the poster, but he’s shot in front of her before she can get any more information. Tea connects with the DJ from the club.

Episode Description
“The One That Got Away” - Diarra struggles with the murder of The Russian. Danger pushes her to find a safe space to hide the traumatic event. But with the Russian’s phone in her possession, she discovers a connection to Deonte Brooks’ mother, VONDA. A celebration brunch with Aja forces Diarra and Moni to cross paths with Swa and another woman driving Diarra’s car “DaBaby.” Moni joins Diarra in her search for Deonte solely to get the reward money after learning that her husband made a bad loan with the leader of the local gang. Diarra and Moni approach Vonda to question her about her son’s disappearance and end up on a ride-along through the hood with Vonda. The adventure starts Diarra and Moni on a journey to mend their friendship, leading Diarra to steal back DaBaby from Swa. With new information from Vonda, Diarra and Moni return to Chris’ apartment and find a backpack full of evidence.

“All In” - Diarra gathers Tea, Aja, and Moni to examine Chris’ backpack. Inside, Deonte/Chris’ ALL-STAR BASKETBALL CAMP hoodie leads them to Cash Kinkaid, the camp's former owner. The team must infiltrate Detroit’s exclusive Buddy Black poker game to find him. Diarra believes Swa will give her enough money, a partial divorce settlement, for the buy-in. At the poker game, Diarra interrogates Cash, certain that he is guilty of kidnapping Deonte. Not only is Cash not guilty, but the money Swa promised never comes and she loses it all at the table.

Episode Description
"Snapshots of a Rendezvous” - Diarra re-examines the evidence previously found, and thanks to Moni’s help, she realizes that a bunch of random numbers on a piece of paper were actually a date/time for a “rendezvous” at a nearby factory. Diarra balances looking super sexy (in case she’s going to see Chris at the factory) and being a dependable friend to Aja for her spa expansion party the same night. Diarra’s loyalties are tested as she balances her personal life and the case. Meanwhile, Moni uses her husband Roman’s auto body shop to follow a lead on the case, starting a riff between them. To help Aja at her party, Tea has to contact the DJ from the BDSM, breaking his one-night stand rule. At the rendezvous, Diarra learns some disturbing things about Chris/Deonte and she and Moni are saved from goons by the original detective on the case - MARSHALL.

Episode Description
“Fishbones” - Now unsure about who Chris really is, Diarra starts an intimate situationship with Danger. Marshall gives Diarra all the evidence he had when he worked this case in 1995, including a lead on his prime suspect, ZERVAS - a Greek mob enforcer turned legitimate businessman. Diarra and Moni set out to do what Marshall never could, bust Zervas’ alibi -he was at a strip club the day Deonte was kidnapped. Diarra gathers the dancers from 1995, under the guise of making a documentary. She figures out that Zervas didn’t take Deonte but he was working with a partner who did the dirty work. Diarra confronts Zervas but he is killed before he can reveal who he was working with in 1995. And then someone puts Diarra in a truck and drives away. Tea’s relationship with the DJ from the Aja’s party grows more complicated as he doesn’t want a boyfriend, but he also doesn’t want the DJ to snitch on Diarra being at the club.

Episode Description
“A Course in Miracles” - As a snowstorm shuts the city down, Diarra is missing. Everyone close to her gathers at the house to help find her, leading to a bottle episode filled with emotional conversations and surprising revelations. Once Diarra returns home, she has the biggest break in the case. But when armed men show up at Diarra’s house to take her and all the evidence they have, tensions rise and lead to a bombshell confession from Danger that pushes Diarra back into the arms of Swa.
